Recap & NEW Workshops

Who are we? Workshop

This workshop is all about the human body and is called “Who Are We?”.

There are 7 videos that you can find in this NEW workshop. We will learn about our DNA and genetic inheritance, how our bodies are affected by different drug molecules, and how we sense the world around us.

Marvellous Medicines

Our chemistry videos are all about medicine!

Worksheet (pdf) | Worksheet (word doc)

In this video we explore how drug molecules work in our bodies and we explore how to build our own models of medicine molecules. The video also explores the ways that drug molecules are created in industry.

In this video we explore the method of chromatography and we show you how to do an at home experiment , separating the pigments in spinach into their different colours.

Sensing Science

The physics videos explore the physics of our sight and hearing.

Worksheet (pdf) | Worksheet (word doc)

In this video we explore hearing and how our ears sense the world around us. We will explore how to test our senses to show how we hear sound.

Worksheet (pdf) | Worksheet (word doc)

This video explores how our eyes explore the world around us. We will investigate some ways of testing our sense of sight using light.

Sensing Science - Illusions

Trick your minds with sight and sound illusions and discover what happens when our brain disagrees with our vision and our hearing!

The Code that Makes Us

Our Biology Videos  are all about DNA – the genetic molecule that exists in all living things!

Worksheet (pdf) | Worksheet (word doc)

In this video we explore what DNA looks like, and we show an experiment to extract DNA from fruit. We learn how traits, like eye and hair colour, are controlled by the DNA in our genes and the alleles we inherit from our parents.

Worksheet (pdf) | Worksheet (word doc)

We introduce Polymerase Chain Reactions (PCR), which is a method used in genetic biology. PCR takes a very small sample of DNA and makes it large enough to study in detail. Our team test their own DNA using PCR, to find out what our genes can tell us about whether we are a morning or an evening person!
